DETAILS OF THE OFFER

Working place:  NeuroPSI Institute / "Astrocytes & Cognitions" team led by Glenn Dallérac

Missions:

The aim of the project is to study how neuro-glial interactions modulate the activity of brain regions regulating vital functions. Astrocytes detect and integrate changes in blood composition or neuronal activity and respond by generating a local elevation of cytosolic Ca2+. However, despite decades of research, the molecular basis underlying local Ca2+ elevations in astroglial processes remains poorly defined.

The person will be co-supervised by Mr JM Cancela and Mr Glenn Dallérac. A weekly meeting will be held to monitor the progress of the thesis. Expertise in confocal calcium imaging and/or electrophysiology is desirable. The candidate will also attend the experimental training courses required to complete the project.

NeuroPSI is an institute dedicated to fundamental neuroscience research and is located at the Université Paris-Saclay (25 km south-west of Paris). NeuroPSI's research groups are organised into three thematic departments and address a wide range of neuroscience questions, from molecules to cognition and from embryos to adults, using multi-scale experimental and theoretical approaches. Recently, NeuroPSI moved into a brand new building next to the NeuroSpin institute for brain imaging, forming the largest neuroscience cluster in the Paris region.
