DETAILS OF THE OFFER

Working place: The Institut Necker Enfants Malade (INEM)

The INEM is a world-class biomedical research Institute affiliated with Université Paris Cité, CNRS and INSERM. The institute has an international staff of around 300 people from more than 20 countries, partitioned in 21 research teams and administrative support services. The INEM is located in Paris, the French capital and one of the most vibrant cultural scenes in the world. INEM teams collaboratively address multiple facets of fundamental science and translational approaches, promoting a holistic understanding of human pathophysiology that associates expertise in multiple organs and in inter-organ hormonal communications, growth, metabolism, inflammation, immunity and haemato-oncology. To achieve this, the close ties with the clinical services of the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades on the joint Necker campus are both a fundamental element and critical asset.

the Institut Necker Enfants Malades invites applications for two group leader positions. Excellent future prospects and an upwards-scientific track record will be the principal selection criteria. We promote equal opportunities, strongly encouraging applications from female candidates and welcome applications from early career scientists as well as established PIs who wish to join INEM.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have an innovative research program complementing the existing strengths in one of the main areas in relation to INEM departments:

  1. control of tissue growth, metabolism, organelle homeostasis and interorgan communication at the molecular, cell biology or patho-physiology level. In this context, bringing an expertise in primary cell organoids or organ-on-chip technology might be considered an asset;
  2. fundamental and translational studies in immunology, microbiology with focus on host-pathogen interactions, and haematology. In this context, integrative interdisciplinary topics (e.g. interaction between immune cells or microbes and tissues, neuroimmunology, etc.) or the use of innovative methodological approaches (e.g. multiplexed spatial imaging, microfluidics, etc.) could be of particular interest.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD.

Other:

The positions include more than 100m2 lab space with cell culture room and offices, complemented with a competitive start-up package and access to on-site state-of-the-art core facilities. Assistance will be provided for obtaining a tenured position and attracting competitive European funding as well as establishing collaborations within the Necker campus, Université Paris Cité and the broader Paris area, one of the major science hubs in Europe.

Shortlisted applicants will be informed by October 1st and invited on site in Autumn, followed by a second round of interviews to the international scientific advisory board. Final selection is expected to take place in December 2023.
