DETAILS OF THE OFFER

Working place: CNRS / The work will be carried out in collaboration between Jean-Luc Aider's acoustic wave group at ESPCI's PMMH laboratory and Jean-Michel Peyrin's Neuroscience Unit at the Institut de Biologie Paris Seine (Sorbonne University). The work will be carried out on the premises of the Institut de Biologie Paris Seine in Paris.

Missions:

The aim of the project, which will follow on from experiments already carried out in the laboratory, is to use acoustic levitation and microfluidic techniques to structure nerve cell cultures in three dimensions and study the neurophysiology of the resulting neural networks.

The proposed subject is essentially experimental, at the frontier between physics and biology. The activities associated with this project will be

  1. 1) Cell biology: primary nerve cell cultures, calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry
  2. 2) Acoustic wave physics: implementation of an optimized resonator
  3. 3) Microfabrication: design of microfluidic devices

Qualification:

The candidate must have completed an interdisciplinary thesis and must have an excellent command of theory and experimentation in the following fields:

  • acoustics and suspension physics,
  • cellular neurobiology,
  • optical and label-free microscopy techniques
