DETAILS OF THE OFFER

Working place: The Paris Brain Institute (ICM) / Team of Severine Boillee

The Paris Brain Institute is a private foundation recognized as being of public utility, whose purpose is fundamental and clinical research on the nervous system. On the same site, 800 researchers, engineers and physicians cover all the disciplines of neurology, with the aim of accelerating discoveries on brain function, and the development of treatments for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.

Missions:

You are passionate about neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation ? You want to use iPSc and organoid technologies ? Join the Team of Severine Boillee at the ICM and participate in medical research in the field of neuroscience. We work on the mechanisms leading to motor neuron degeneration in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). We showed in ALS mouse models, that microglial cells/macrophages participated to ALS disease progression. As ALS is a heterogenous disease, our question is now to analyze, in new iPSc-/organoid-based models, the development of ALS pathological hallmarks and the contribution of immune cells in relation to ALS heterogeneity.

Main missions:

  • establish reproducible ALS organoid and assembloid models
  • analyze the time course of development of ALS hallmarks
  • study the contribution of immune cells in ALS hallmark formation
  • decipher whether ALS heterogeneity can be modeled

Qualifications:

Knowledge

  • You have a minimum of 3 years of higher education in neuroscience (PhD)
  • You already have an extensive experience with cell/iPSctissue culture (this is an absolute requirement)
  • You already worked in the field of neurodegeneration/neuroinflammation including using iPSc

Hard skills

  • You are proficient with cell/tissue culture
  • You have extensive experience in immunohistochemistry and image analyses
  • You have experience in RNAseq, cytometry, viral delivery
  • You are familiar with iPSc, iPSc-derived neurons, microglia, neurodegeneration
  • Fluency in technical English required

Soft skills

  • Rigorous and committed
  • highly motivated in research
  • You enjoy setting up new techniques and using new technologies
  • You like teamwork, to train others and transmit your knowledge
  • You are autonomous but like to interact with your supervisor
