A postdoc position is available at the UPJV - Groupe de Recherche sur l'Alcool et les Pharmacodépendances (GRAP, INSERM UMR 1247 - https://grap.u-picardie.fr/ ), Amiens, France. Our laboratory uses animal models of binge drinking and alcohol addiction to define molecular mechanisms underlying psychobiological risks in alcohol use disorder.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious candidate who enjoys carrying out scientific projects (IReSP-INCa Funds for fighting against addictions). As a postdoc, your research will focus on understanding the role of the prefrontal cortex in the development compulsive alcohol seeking behaviors. We are going to combine a variety of state-of-the-art techniques, including chemogenetics, optogenetics, fiber photometry and Single-Cell Calcium Imaging. The appointment will initially be for 1 year. After a satisfactory evaluation of the initial appointment, the contract will be extended for a total duration of 3 years. This is competitive salaried position and will be open until filled. Your duties

  • You will use a repertoire of state-of-the-art approaches in circuit neuroscience such as fiber photometry and Single-Cell Calcium Imaging in behaving rodents, opto- or chemogenetics and histology.
  • You will have the opportunity to supervise Master’s students.

Requirements

  • We are looking for experienced candidates with a PhD in Neuroscience who is motivated to lead and excited by the science.
  • Prior solid experience with calcium Imaging and chemogenetics in behaving rodents and surgical techniques is essential.
  • Experience of working with viral vectors is desirable.
