Two postdoctoral researcher positions
Pascale Bomont laboratory, Montpellier (France)
Field: neurodegenerative diseases, from mechanisms to therapy
Biological systems: mouse (project 1) & zebrafish (project 2)
We are seeking for 2 highly motivated postdoctoral fellows, to work on disease modelling and therapeutic intervention in mouse (project 1) and on cytoskeleton alterations in disease using the zebrafish model (project 2). Both projects are dedicated to the deciphering of the pathophysiological mechanisms engaged in neuromuscular diseases, and combine both fundamental science and translational development towards therapy.
Project 1 aims to provide a full characterization of the first phenotypical mouse model for a neurodegenerative disease, that be instrumental to identify potent biomarkers of disease progression and to test our therapeutic vehicles in preclinical studies. Objectives are to provide a strong biological system to understand neurodegenerative processes and initiate therapeutic intervention for this fatale disease. Requirement: initial expertise in mouse handling and histopathological examination.
Project 2 aims to investigate the live dynamics of cytoskeleton in zebrafish, in the context of neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, with our novel zebrafish CRISPR lines and sophisticated microscopy methodologies in hands, the postdoctoral fellow will be able to dissect the molecular mechanisms by which cytoskeleton alterations drive neurodegeneration in a living organism. Anoather important aspect is translational, with the ambition to develop therapeutic oriented screening in animals. This project benefits from an interdisciplinary environement, with experts in microscopy, zebrafish biology, chemistry and screening methodologies. Requirement: initial expertise in zebrafish and/or microscopy.
