Regulation of autism symptoms by mGlu4 glutamate receptor: Role of the amygdala and proximal network
Our research project aims at better understanding the role of the mGlu4 within the amygdala network in modulating social, cognitive, emotional and sensory symptoms of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), in line with our previous demonstration of beneficial effects of chronic mGlu4 signaling facilitation in a mouse model of autism (Becker et al. 2014).
This work is part of an Era-Net Neuron funded project exploring the role of amygdala synaptic neuromodulatory mechanisms and mGlu4 in ASD, and involves partner teams in Montpellier (France), Tübingen (Germany) and Barcelona (Spain).
We are looking for a highly motivated junior (<2 years after PhD) post-doctoral candidate with a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience or related field, with expertise in stereotaxic surgery, pharmacology and behavioral testing.
The successful candidate will use recombinant viral vectors, transgenic mice, gene expression analysis and photoswitchable/photoactivable pharmacological compounds.
He/she should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and display initiative, autonomy and capacity to work in a group.
The position is available for 2 years at the Laboratory “Physiologie de la Reproduction et des Comportements”, INRA UMR0085, CNRS UMR7247, Université de Tours, from September 2019.
The salary will depend on experience.
