Postdoctoral position on cerebellar motor control
Exploring cerebellar network activity and function during locomotion
We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow for a fully-funded, three year position starting in spring 2019 working with Michael Graupner (PhD) at the Brain Physiology Lab (CNRS UMR 8118, Université Paris Descartes, 45 rue des Saints-Pères, Paris, France). The successful candidate will be involved in a multifaceted project dedicated to studying the cerebellar network during locomotion using calcium imaging and electrophysiological recordings in the awake, behaving animal, as well as machine learning techniques for behavioral analyses.
The cerebellum plays a crucial role in the timing and coordination of movements, but the cellular underpinnings of such a task remain largely unknown. Our goal is to unravel the functional role of the cerebellar molecular layer network during acquisition of a locomotion task and adaptation to environmental changes. The results will advance our understanding of the cerebellar network and its involvement in generating coordinated movements in mammals.
Applicants should hold a PhD in or related to neuroscience. The ideal candidate has practical skills for in vivo experimental work, a background in neurophysiology, and a deep desire to understand the principles underlying the functioning of the nervous system. Programming skills in Python are beneficial. Good communication skills are a must.
