The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org.
The post-holder will direct a world-class research programme within the Neurobiology Division of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB), to develop and/ or apply novel approaches in high-density image acquisition (light, X-ray, electron) and the associated computational analyses to determine the structure, connectivity and function of intact nervous systems with synaptic resolution, in health and disease. This role will expand and complement the Molecular Connectomics Initiative, recently established by the Neurobiology Division, which seeks to address outstanding fundamental neurobiological questions, with a focus on the storage, retrieval and modification of information in relation to the molecular architecture of the synapse and whole-circuit synaptic connectivity.
The post-holder will have substantial postdoctoral experience in the field of the structural analysis of neural circuits, with a focus on synaptic architecture and whole-circuit connectivity. This will be accompanied by broad and deep knowledge of state-of-the-art computational and/ or technical approaches, with a focus on high-density, large-volume imaging, as required to carry out the proposed research.
