Duties and Responsibilities

 

Applications are invited for the post of Applied Research Fellow in Human Neuroimaging, based at the Birkbeck/UCL Centre for NeuroImaging and the AlphaLab, based at UCL and Birkbeck

 

The position will involve hands-on work with MR imaging of human auditory and perception, including functional MR and high-resolution quantitative MR.  The role also will support MR project coordination and facilitation at BUCNI for other PIs. This will include safety and operator training, experimental setup assistance, and some programming assistance with Matlab. The support aspects of the position will not exceed 50% of the fellow's time on average.  The fellow will work closely with the rest of the BUCNI team. 

 

The post is funded for 4 years in the first instance.  

 

Key Requirements

 

Candidates will have an MSc or PhD (or be in the process of completing their PhD) in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field with the dissertation work showing expertise in acquiring functional and structural MR data with an emphasis on language and auditory work. Candidates should also be qualified to operate Siemens MR scanners on a research basis. 

 

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B salary £32,217 - £33,958 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
